Q: Without doubt, you are one of the most influential and recognizable bands on punk rock/horror history - did you ever intend to have such a longstanding impact?
A: No, I expected to hit it big and retire (laughs)
Q: The punk scene of the late 70s in no doubt different to that of today - how do you feel it compares? Are the ethos the same?
A: Although the music was new and obviously very exciting, the scene was not half as good as it is today. The crowds today fill stadiums to see bands like Green Day. Back then a 100 people was a lot for a punk show.
Q: You've been a band for over 30 years - looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: I would of been more aware of the business aspect of what was going on. I have a better grip on it today, but would of liked to have all the answers from the beginning.
Q: Are there any modern punk bands that you like?
A: I don't really have the time to listen to them, not in a mean way, I'm just too busy ya know.
Q: Do you think the band has changed in the last 30 years? Is it different to what you started out with? Are your attitudes different?
A: Yeah, I think we're different. We're a lot more confident in the way we play and in our choice of material.
Q: Do you still have the same/similar views as you did when you started the band?
A: Yes, we try to keep the band as constant as we can.
Q: Is it humbling to see a new generation of Misfits fans coming along to your gigs?
A: I don't know if humbling is the right word, I would say gratifying. We work really hard so it's fulfilling to be there for the kids and have them appreciate it.
Q: How did you approach making the new album 'Devil's Rain'? Did you have a different process to previous albums?
A: I tried to approach it as professionally as I possibly could; giving it, and the fiends, the respect and the time it needed. This band is not a commodity, it's not like fruit that goes bad on the shelf. The Misfits will be here forever and it deserves that respect.
Q: The new album has been doing extremely well - are you proud of what it has been achieving? [Being the #1 selling punk album on Amazon must be a good feeling]
A: I think its the best album we've ever made, and to me that's enough. Though it is nice that everyone else likes it. Everyone likes a different song on it which shows strength throughout the tracks. Sometimes bands put out albums that have only one or two stand out tracks. A "classic" album is strong from start to finish. This is that type of album.
Q: Are you looking forward to playing the new material to your Australian fans?
A: I'm VERY excited. We haven't drawn blood outta Australia in a long time.
Q: Do you have a message for your Australian fans?
A: I hope they like the new album.
Q: How will the band end the year, and what will 2012 hold?
A: We'll end the year doing some more shows in the US, and in 2012 we'll be circling the globe...
